Our future with VR

Many of the fields of innovation are inhabited by a number of companies who work on the same problem but from different angles. The field of VR is no exception. Each company contribute a part so that innovation happens in steps. First we use tech to solve a problem that annoys us.

Once the innovation is made, we start coming up with new ideas and create completely new services, creating blue ocean markets.

The Missing Connection…

Take the digital conferencing tools as an example. Even without a lock-down, physically travelling to each and every meeting in person is a highly inefficient way of running business. It needs to be combined with digital solutions to allow for speed and profitability.

The first steps of innovation provided digital conferencing that translate traditional conferences and meetings to their digital equivalents. Skype made a head start, soon followed by integrated tools such as Teams, Google Meets and Slack. They provide decent digital meetings that are connected to our communication channels, calendars and files.

Then new wave of innovation added much-needed functions, such as easy connection, Q&A, polls, surveys and chat-rooms. Specialised software and apps like Zoom, Whereby and Slido have created good go-to tools.

But after binge-using digital conferencing tools for months, I would say that we all long for tools that provide a more near-life experience.

Your best You-avatar Dancing with Technology

It happens in VR. The solutions developed by combining VR, AI and digital communication tools, including simultaneous translations, are exciting.

Imagine putting on your head-set, dressing up in your best looking You-avatar and enter the virtual conference room with your colleagues from around the world.

Sketch together on the virtual whiteboard, enjoying a haptic experience of the things discussed and co-designing solutions augmented by real time dashboards filled with data and input from all your clients, fans & friends.

VR Conferences and the No-code Movement

The gaming world adopted VR and AR years ago, this tech is now integrated into the business world. It adds a new design and feel to the business world, a less formal and more creative way of communicating and collaborating together. The graphical experiences and human interfaces from games is leveraged into the business world. Innovation has taken a great leap with many interesting solutions. Such as Rumii, Engage and Frame VR that provide accessible VR conference platforms and apps.

But innovation does not stop there. Some visionaries have already moved on to the next step. Lily Snyder's visions about haptic VR-coding for non-coders is mind-boggling. Imagine a young entrepreneurial team building the code supporting their business idea through gestures and conversation in a virtual environment. I cannot wait for tech to catch up with creativity.
